Maren Cohn began working with Hamstreet & Associates in 2005 following an earlier career in academics. Excellence as a critical thinker and communicator informs all aspects of Maren’s work. She has led several engagements for Hamstreet, working with national and regional clients on strategies aimed at cost reduction, business development and planning, investor relations, external communications, and improved management and governance systems. Maren provides objective business assessments and solutions that improve organizational performance.
Maren is a quick study with a powerful analytic capacity and enjoys developing creative plans to deal with complex situations. Her ability to recognize and articulate issues impacting multiple perspectives and interest groupings helps move the process forward toward decision-making. She approaches challenges with an open mind while observing, gathering and processing information, and evaluating options.
Maren’s industry experience includes health care, senior housing, agriculture, timber management, forest products, and homebuilding. Her most challenging engagement involved a complex business, legal, and tax environment in which Maren led investor planning and communications, and served as a point person helping operational and financial professionals, accountants, attorneys, and investors to develop and execute a multifaceted restructuring plan.
Maren graduated Phi Beta Kappa with honors and distinction from Stanford University. She received her Ph.D. in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago. With a background in Western literature, classics, and philosophy, she taught for several years at St. John’s College in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon.
